RE: An Ohio Rally Thanksgiving, Nov 26th-30th, 2008

If you've winterized, how are you using the black tank? Just flushing with water brought from home? I'd like to take some off season trips but know I'm not going to get Randy to de-winterize! Steph, We normally use bottled water for drinking and gallon milk jugs full of water for flushing. Make sure you empty the tanks though. The water/ stuff can freeze were the valves are and might cause a unsightly mess, of water/stuff. Ya know... We normally don't de winterize as long as there is a shower house open. Last year the owners locked the shower house doors at our campground so we went to the state park and took showers. BTW, Now that you have an A (with more storage), Randy can get an air compressor and a Fitt'in to winterize the water lines and save the pink stuff for the traps.

RE: An Ohio Rally Christmas, 12/6, 2008 Camp Sands

I just read the news, Greg all the best to you. I have to say we had a great time when Todd was in the Navy (22 yrs). If you have a wondering spirit the military is a great life. We loved the travel. We lived on both coast and Italy and got paid to see many interesting places. I am sure Tonya will be welcome in any military hospital in the area your stationed in. You two are going on a great adventure and I hope you enjoy every minute of it, we enjoyed our adventure. All the very best to the both of you. Please keep in touch. Bonnie We'll always keep an eye on this forum. Tonya is already planning her job transition. She's excited about being able to use her new degree.

RE: An Ohio Rally Christmas, 12/6, 2008 Camp Sands

Well, I guess this is the best place for this post. So, here it goes. First off, right now it looks like we'll be attending this gathering (of course this is subject to change). With the economy down and my being unable to find suitable employment in my degree field and our determination to travel I have reenlisted in the Active Army. Toyna is finished with her masters degree so we've decided now is the best time for a change. I will leave on December 31 and Tonya will follow sometime in April after my training and I find out where we'll be stationed. My new job will be in the HVAC field. Since January I've lost 50lbs and hoping to lose another 10-25 by my shipping date. Tonya and I have both been dieting and I've been hitting the gym everyday. Chemmi, John was quite inspirational with his weight loss advise. We are planning a short trip to DC at the end of November then we are going to Florida between Christmass and my ship date. Greg, that is quite a committment. You will find that you will be entering a completely different world. It is very much like this camping group, where everyone is of one purpose. Where will you be attending "boot"? With your skills I would assume that you will be advanced to a higher pay grade after boot. (?) Thanks for the kind words. Actually, I already have 13 years in between active/reserve and IRR time. I just signed up for about 3 1/2 years and who knows retirement might be within reach.I didn't get exactly what I wanted (I tried to get my E-5 back) and they knocked that down to and E-4. I did tell them if I didn't get a 52C (HVAC)job I wasn't joining. I was offered no other insentives to join, no $$ or choice of duty assignments, nothing. So, the big question is where we'll end up. We are hoping for Ft. Stewart GA (right outside of Savannah) or Tonya really wants Germany. I do have to go thru something called warrior transition course. It's like a watered down basic for prior service and people comming in from other branchs. That's 4 weeks long and it's at White sands missle range in NM. I'll be there Most of Jan and into Feb. Then my AIT is going to be at Aberdeen Proving Grounds MD, about 15 miles from Baltimore. We are just looking forward to seeing some different places and doing some cheap traveling and camping.

RE: Barb Rowles

RIP Barb. I'll never forget the one evening at the OSU-PSU Rally in 2006. Manny and I were walking Jack around 11pm, and everyone was in bed except Chuck. He was sitting outside his rig watching TV. We came up to see what he was up to, and he said, "Let's drink some wine!" We rolled out of his rig at 3am after having some very delightful conversation and brie cheese and wine. :) Barb was a delight. They did that to me the first time we met (at the very first Ohio Rally at Baylor Beach). Chuck was looking to meet me (after all of the online hijynx) and said "We need to have a drink together". 4 bottles of wine later John and I stumbled out of their motorhome (John found me on the 2nd or 3rd bottle and joined us), and then proceeded to TP Steve's motorhome. There was always wine and cheese and wonderful conversations. I miss my friends.... That's funny. We had one of those encounters with Chuck/Barb also. Can't say we had 3/4 bottles but a couple of glasses of wine and some great conversation. Here are some pictures from Baylor Beach 2006. I can remember this like it was yesterday. The setting......one of Pams, spur of the moment jello shot parties. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i281/fzrus/BB%2006%201/9994.jpg height=400 width=400 http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i281/fzrus/BB%2006%201/f894.jpg height=400 width=400 Barb, you will be missed.

RE: Motorcycle carriers

It has always struck me as odd that the manufacturer's who build many beautifully appointed trailers outfit the interior living spaces in toyhaulers as though they think we ride our bikes into the garage and don't bother taking off our boots and other gear before we go into the living room. Go figure. They need to appeal to both partners and in my view they leave the women out of the equation when they build the bulk of the toyhaulers. They'd sell a lot more of them if they'd simply graft the garage part onto the rear of one of their other lovely offerings. Amen. We thought the same thing also. We saw a Cougar at an RV show in Jan of 2007 that we liked. Look at the 310SRX and the 320SRX. link These would be perfect if the ramp was only 36-40in wide instead of 60in.

RE: Ohio Rallies 2008

Randy if off watching the Pavlik fight, Alex is holed away in his room, and I am headed out to do some driveway camping! So who else has slept in their RV in the driveway before? Admit it, we all have! Steph, just turn the key and drive it to the nearest WallyWorld. No one will fault you for it.:B We never slept in our driveway (only because the 5er doesn't fit in it). However, we would if it did.

OK, new page, here's the picture. Man, this abuse re: my signature is worse than any TP job I could get! I'm not so sure about that. :B I'll have to check out Alex's facebook page.

RE: Prodigy and electric hydraulic brakes ?

We just bought a new Sea Ray boat and the trailer has electric/hydraulic brakes. My prodigy won't activate the trailer brakes like it does on the 5er. I do know that they work though, you can tell when backing up/down an incline.

RE: Ohio Rallies 2008

Too late, I already reserved site 316!! nah nah nah!!! Are you sure? Cuz we just booked that site also. Maybe it is 200ft long or something. :B I'm thinking someone on here has stock in the CG. I'm also thinking that not everyone is up for camping in December (that's polite for afraid) :S Now we have camped almost every month since we bought the fiver.

Tonya, you going to be able to pull the boat behind the fiver??? :h I have thought about it. However I don't think the truck will pull it all.

RE: Ohio Rallies 2008

BIG tank - I think it's a 1000 gallon tank. My real question is - how could we possibly have used 475 gallons over the SUMMER? There are only 2 pilots running during the summer... :h KK, Have you changed any behaviors? (I.E. longer showers, guests staying over, cooking more)? if not. Look for leaks. I would start with the new A/C you had installed. See if Ken can put a stick in the tank to find out the level. Unless you have another way to check it. If Ken is going to use a stick to check a propane tank, please advise ahead of time so I can get a little farther away. That would get things cold as when it hits the air it is changed to a vapor and is at -bunches of degrees not to mention the boom it could make.:B:B Hmmm, yeh, after reading your post I remembered, that's how you check heating oil. Yep, as Dan mentioned, this might not be a good idea. KK, has anyone done any digging in your yard?

KK, post the dimensions of the tank so we can calculate the gallons. Then we can determine the REAL 80%.

RE: Wheels on Keystone Cougars-You need this info

When i had a cougar 296EFS it came with 16" wheels.I bet you could trade those tires/rims towards your new ones. This is what I did two years ago. Try contacting a local RV dealer and ask about swapping all of them. I traded in all 5 tires/rims for 5 16in load range E and $300. The RV dealer had a specific tire dealer they delt with and that's who I ended up trading with.

RE: Chev/GMC 1500HD owners and 5th wheels. What do you tow ?

I guess I'll reply since my 2500 is the same as a 1500HD. I tow a 30ft 5er that is listed at 7800lbs dry. I've pulled it for 20k miles with no problems. I guess if you want to you could swap the 3.73 for 4.10s and have a 2500HD. As for the posting. Some folks think they own this forum. You did OK by changing the title to get a different crowd to reply.

RE: Arbogast rv Troy, oh

I've only delt with there service department (which wasn't good). I'm not sure about there sales department, except they started locking the RV's up as we were looking at them, it was closing time and I guess they were in a hurry.
